Washington’s popular electronics recycling program has collected 200 million pounds of waste in less than five years, according to the state Department of Ecology.

In the program’s first year, 2009, E-Cycle Washington collected 38.5 million pounds of televisions, hard drives and computer monitors. Numbers have climbed since, and 2013 is on pace to set another record, according to the Ecology Department; this year, it has collected more than 35 million pounds of electronics through September statewide.

Clark County continues to be a major contributor, bringing in 2.8 million pounds during that time. Only King, Snohomish and Pierce counties collected more. At 13 million pounds, King County alone has accounted for more than a third of the state’s entire total this year.
