Spring Up wins Santa Anita feature on the turf

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Spring Up won the $51,000 Muscle Beach Purse by a half-length at Santa Anita on Friday, giving trainer John Sadler a 1-2 finish.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Spring Up ran 1 1/8 miles on the downhill turf course in 1:46.83 and paid $10.20, $4.60 and $3.40.

Brother Pete, also trained by Sadler, returned $6.80 and $3.80. My Friend Jimmy was another head back in third and paid $3.60 to show.

The victory, worth $30,600, increased Spring Up’s career earnings to $82,187, with three wins in seven starts.
