SEATTLE — Union officials said local grocery store workers will vote Tuesday and Wednesday on a tentative contract deal that was reached with four major chains Oct. 21 just before a strike deadline.

Thousands of grocery workers in King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Pierce, Mason and Thurston counties will have a chance to review the proposed new terms and cast their votes at eight locations from Everett to Olympia.

Vote results likely will be available Thursday, according to United Food and Commercial Workers Local 21.

A union bargaining team announced Oct. 21 that it unanimously recommended the tentative agreement reached in a marathon negotiating session with Albertsons, Fred Meyer, QFC and Safeway.

Neither side has released details of the proposed contract, which still must be approved by union members.
