CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals put cornerback Leon Hall on the injured reserve list Tuesday, more than a week after he injured his right Achilles tendon.

Hall tore his other Achilles tendon in 2011 but returned last season as the Bengals’ top cornerback.

With middle linebacker Rey Maualuga on crutches Tuesday with a knee injury, the Bengals (6-2) promoted linebacker J.K. Schaffer from their practice squad for a game on Thursday at Miami (3-4). It’ll be Schaffer’s second game on the roster this season. He’s been on the practice squad the rest of the time.

The Bengals also waived defensive end DeQuin Evans a day after he returned from suspension. Evans was suspended the first eight games for his second violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
