CHICAGO (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says the Chicago Cubs are interviewing former catcher Brad Ausmus for their manager’s job.

The person spoke Friday on the condition of anonymity because the search is to be confidential.

Ausmus works in San Diego’s front office as a special assistant to the general manager. He also managed Israel’s team for the World Baseball Classic. Ausmus played in the majors from 1993-2010 and won Gold Gloves in 2001, 2002 and 2006 with Houston.

The Cubs are looking for a manager after firing Dale Sveum. They have also interviewed Eric Wedge, A.J Hinch, Manny Acta, Rick Renteria and Dave Martinez. They also are reportedly interested in Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo.
