Letter: Medical pot laws targeted

The Columbian
Published: October 31, 2013, 5:00pm

“Untenable” is what U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan called the for-profit medical marijuana dispensaries currently operating within Washington state. The statement was prompted by the recent Department of Justice “memo” on recreational cannabis policy.

So the state Legislature mandated the Liquor Control Board make recommendations regarding the interaction of medical cannabis regulations and Initiative 502. Those recommendations can be found at http://1.usa.gov/1cXPwXD. If you will take the time to read them, it will become obvious to you the board’s recommendation is to gut the current medicinal cannabis laws: tossing the baby out with the bath water.

Now that is untenable. Please, speak up.
