CHICAGO (AP) — Michael Parkhurst has been added to the United States roster ahead of two World Cup qualifiers later this month.

The defender was brought in from Germany to prepare for Friday night’s game at Costa Rica after Brad Evans was hurt playing for the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night.

Parkhurst, who plays for Augsburg in the Bundesliga, started in five of six matches in the Americans’ 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup championship, including the final.

The United States, which brings a 12-game winning streak into Friday’ game, is set to face Mexico in Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 10. It currently leads CONCACAF qualifying with 13 points to 11 for Costa Rica.
