Rescuers pulled a horse out of a well in Mason County Tuesday afternoon.
Central Mason Fire and emergency workers responded to a report of a horse stuck in an abandoned well off Rivendell Road, according to a news release.
The 800-pound mare, Magic, was in the four-foot square well and was submerged except for her head and right front leg.
Rescuers freed Magic’s left front leg and then double wrapped a two and a half inch fire hose around the horse’s body.
The eight responders were able to pull Magic free. Mason County Animal Control, Jim’s Towing and a veterinarian from Gig Harbor also responded.
Magic is recovering under veterinary care.
