Mayor Tim Leavitt has been known to say that he has a vision for our city. I think he needs to take off his rose-colored glasses and pick up a calculator. If we have difficulty keeping up with basic services such as maintenance of our medians and surrounding open spaces, tending to our streets, etc., how can we afford light rail? Who is going to pay for this? I think the taxpayers have spoken with their vote and are unwilling (and some unable) to pay more taxes.
I have a vision, too — to live in a city that is one to be proud of and is clean and free of unsightly weeds and debris.
I think our mayor has delusions of grandeur and expects the residents to satisfy his vision. Of course, this will probably be at our expense. To quote Councilor Bill Turlay concerning light rail: “I don’t see how the city can take on the annual cost.” Amen to that, Councilor Turlay.
