Battle Ground school board adds night meetings

Published: September 4, 2013, 5:00pm

The Battle Ground school board has doubled the number of regular meetings from one to two per month and made plans for one night meeting per month. The new meeting schedule was adopted at its Aug. 26 meeting.

The school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month and at 4 p.m. on the fourth Monday. July and December will have only one regular meeting each at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday.

Most meetings will be at the former Lewisville School, 406 N.W. Sixth Ave., Building C, Room C26. The full schedule of board meetings is posted on the Battle Ground Public Schools’ website, http://www.battlegroundps.org.

The next board meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday and 4 p.m. Sept. 23.

The schedule will make it easier for the public to attend and comment on district business, according to a news release. District staff and patrons had criticized the board for meeting during the regular work day, when many people couldn’t attend.
