A 17-year-boy was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Ridgefield.

The crash was reported to police at 7:38 p.m. in the 28800 block of Northwest Main Avenue.

A pickup truck driver took a hard left turn to go south on Main Avenue and lost control of the vehicle, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy, spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue. The pickup ended up on its top.

The driver was uninjured, but the passenger, a 17-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene, Dawdy said.

Clark County Fire & Rescue has responded to crashes in the same spot that stemmed from the hard left turn. The road does not get much traffic, Dawdy said.

Police blocked off traffic to investigate. A medical examiner was dispatched to the site of the accident.

The teen’s name was not released.
