FCS team SLU not sneaking up on No. 24 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Southeastern Louisiana coach Ron Roberts is realistic about the tough challenge his FCS team faces going to 24th-ranked TCU.

The Lions (1-0) play Saturday at TCU, a week after eight FCS teams beat higher-division FBS teams in season openers. The Horned Frogs lost their opener, but that was against SEC power LSU.

Roberts chuckled when he said all those upsets really messed up his team’s opportunity to sneak up on the Frogs. He knows better than that.

Coach Gary Patterson is in his 13th season and TCU’s winningest coach. Long before the Frogs were a two-time BCS buster and a Big 12 member, they lost their first home game under Patterson in 2001. The coach still talks about that loss to FCS team Northwestern State.
