CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Bobcats announced they’ve signed undrafted free agent forward James Southerland from Syracuse.

The move was announced Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-8 Southerland averaged a career-high 13.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a senior last year at Syracuse. He shot 39.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and his long-distance shooting gives him a chance at making the Bobcats’ opening day roster.

For his career Southerland averaged 7.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Orange.

Southerland set a record with 17 3-pointers in the Big East Tournament this past season and was named to the all-tournament team. However, he wasn’t among those selected in the NBA draft.
