HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A summer series of six races for 2-year-olds sired by Florida stallions will move next year to Gulfstream Park from Calder Race Course.

The series, formerly the Florida Stallion Stakes, will be called the Florida Sire Stakes. It took place the past 32 years at Calder.

Ocala breeder and owner Dan Lasater created the series that has produced six Eclipse Award winners — Awesome Feather, Big Drama, Not Surprising, Holy Bull, Smile and Brave Raj.

Total purses will increase $300,000, officials said.
