NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees have promoted right-hander Jim Miller from Triple-A to help their depleted bullpen.
The Yankees made the move after giving up 21 runs in two straight losses to Boston. Miller was selected from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and joined the Yankees for Saturday’s game against the Red Sox.
The 31-year-old Miller made 47 relief appearances for Baltimore, Colorado and Oakland from 2008-11. He was 3-5 with six saves in Triple-A this year.
The Yankees have been short-handed in their bullpen.
Lefty Boone Logan is having an MRI because of tightness in the back of his elbow, setup man David Robertson is expected to be out until next week with tendinitis in the back of his right shoulder and Shawn Kelley is sidelined because of inflammation in his triceps.
