LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Brandon Wesley threw two touchdown passes as Bucknell used a strong first half to beat Marist 27-14 in its season opener Saturday.

Wesley helped lead Bucknell to touchdowns on three consecutive first half drives, all of which were longer than 70 yards.

The first was capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Wesley to Travis Friend to give Bucknell a 10-0 lead.

Chuckie Looney then threw the first of his two touchdown passes, a 3-yarder to Armani Martin, as Marist (0-2) made it 10-7. But a short touchdown run by CJ Williams on the following drive and Wesley’s 66-yard touchdown pass to Josh Brake made it 24-7 at the half.

Looney and Martin hooked up for a 20-yard TD late in the third quarter to close the scoring. Marist managed just 39 yards rushing and 255 total yards.
