Idaho State defeats Dixie State 40-14

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Justin Arias passed for 439 yards and two touchdowns to lead Idaho State to a 40-14 win over Dixie State on Saturday.

In addition to touchdown passes of 8 yards to Luke Austin and 12 yards to Xavier Finney, Arias had a 19-yard touchdown run.

Idaho State (1-0) of the Big Sky Conference rolled up 580 total yards while limiting Division II Dixie State (0-1) to 256. Finney led Idaho State in rushing with 83 yards on 15 carries. Cam Richmond led the Bengals with 9 catches for 149 yards. Luke Austin had 7 for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Dixie State’s Griff Robles had a pair of touchdown passes, of 4 and 6 yards, to J.D. Duncan. Mitch Frei and Duncan each had 7 catches for Dixie State. Duncan gained 78 yards and Frei 65.

Idaho State limited Dixie State to 14 yards rushing.
