Legacy medical center now offers 3-D mammogram service

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s breast health center is now equipped with 3-D mammography.

Legacy Health is replacing the conventional 2-D mammography with the 3-D technology at each of its four breast health centers.

That means every Legacy patient will receive a 3-D mammogram.

The 3-D mammograms are higher-definition, more comprehensive images of the breast than conventional mammograms. They make multiple images of the breast, in layers, so radiologists can examine each image individually or stack them into a 3-D model of the breast.

The Legacy Breast Health Center – Salmon Creek is at the medical center, 2211 N.E. 139th St. The phone number is 360-487-1800.

The Vancouver Clinic’s Breast Care Center and PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center’s Kearney Breast Center added 3-D mammography last year.
