Jane Cook is winner of this year’s Dancing with the Local Stars, an event that raised $170,000 to support the Fort Vancouver National Trust.

Placement was determined on the basis of who raised the most money; Cook raised $36,094.

In the Saturday competition at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, nine local “stars” were partnered with Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors and taught dance routines.

The community was encouraged to vote for their favorite dancer with their dollars both online and at the event, which was attended by almost 400.

The $170,000 total is the dancing event’s best fundraising effort.

Cook, a social media strategist, performed a cha-cha with her dance partner, Phil Auer, a dance instructor and franchisee of the Arthur Murray studios in Vancouver, Portland and Beaverton, Ore.
