GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Running back Eddie Lacy is out of the Packers’ home opener with a concussion after what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet hit by Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather.

Later, Meriweather left Sunday’s game, too, with his own concussion following another hard-hitting play.

Lacy was trying to lunge for extra yardage on a 10-yard gain in the first quarter when he got hurt. It was his longest run in the brief NFL career of the second-round pick out of Alabama.

Meriweather was making his season debut after sitting out last week’s 33-27 loss to the Eagles with a groin injury.

He wasn’t on the field long, leaving after making another apparent helmet-to-helmet tackle in the second quarter on a 20-yard gain by Lacy’s replacement, James Starks.
