CENTRALIA — Law enforcement officers in the Centralia, Wash., area are looking for whoever decapitated and burned a dog.

Firefighters found the body of the Doberman-labrador-pit bull mix on railroad tracks.

The owners of the dog named Crom are devastated. Tim Filer and Michelle Nelson tell KOMO-TV that the dog ran out of the house several weeks ago in pursuit of a cat. They say they’ve looked for him ever since.

Firefighters later found the dog’s head, with his collar still around his neck.

Centralia police say they’re convinced a train did not run over the dog. They say they have few leads.
