Fern Prairie — To mark the 12th anniversary, East County Fire and Rescue honored those who died in terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. A granite memorial was dedicated last week at the Fern Prairie Fire Station 91, 600 N.E. 267th Ave., Camas. Following the ceremony, candles were lit in honor of those who died in the terrorist attacks, and the names of fallen first responders were read in remembrance. It was one of a handful of local ceremonies that day.
