TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State has suspended two starters — linebacker Christian Jones and defensive end Eddie Goldman — for a violation of team rules.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said Thursday the players were suspended for one game and will miss Saturday’s nonconference contest against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.

Fisher says Terrance Smith will start in place of Jones and Demonte McAllister will start on the defensive line.

The coach did not go into details of the violations, but says, “It’s all correctable …. We have to abide by a certain set of guidelines.”

Jones has 43 starts and 13 tackles. Goldman became a full-time starter this year.

Starting defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. will also miss Saturday’s game due to a hand injury. He has seven tackles and one for loss in 2013.
