RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State baseball coach Elliott Avent has received a new contract that keeps him with the Wolfpack through at least the 2018 season.

School officials announced Avent’s new deal Friday, three months after leading N.C. State to its first College World Series appearance since 1968.

He will earn a base salary of $473,000 with up to $245,000 in incentives. Those include conference titles, appearances and advancement in the NCAA tournament, coaching awards and the players’ academic performance.

He also will receive automatic extensions of one year for each NCAA super regional appearance or two years for a College World Series appearance. Those extensions are capped at a total of five years, stretching the deal through the 2023 season.
