NEW YORK (AP) — M.I.A. says she’s been legally harassed by the NFL since she extended a middle finger while performing alongside Madonna at Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

The Hollywood Reporter (http://bit.ly/18dYSLL ) said Friday that the NFL filed arbitration documents demanding $1.5 million from M.I.A. for breaching her contract and tarnishing the league’s reputation. Last week the league asked for summary judgment finding her liable before trial.

The 38-year-old British-Sri Lankan singer was performing the song “Give Me All Your Luvin'” when she gave the finger to a TV audience of more than 100 million.

M.I.A. has been quiet about the legal wrangling that followed, but her attorney Howard King says she now plans to speak out against the league.

The NFL did not comment beyond saying its lawyers are handling the issue.
