YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Jahwan Edwards scored three rushing touchdowns to lead a powerful Ball State offense in a 51-20 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

The performance by Ball State (3-1, 1-0 MAC) against Eastern Michigan (1-3, 0-1 MAC) showed why the Cardinals entered the game with the top-ranked scoring offense in the Mid-American Conference.

Eastern Michigan’s Darius Jackson had a 7-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the game before the Ball State offense hurt the Eagles with four first-quarter touchdowns.

Edwards had a 36-yard touchdown run to open the scoring for Ball State and the Cardinals held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game after the first-quarter scores.

Ball State’s Keith Wenning threw for 317 yards and two touchdowns. Wenning has passed for more than 300 yards in all four Ball State games this season.

Bronson Hill rushed for a game-high 126 yards to lead the Eagles.
