POMONA, Calif. (AP) — Del Mar and Los Alamitos will pick up extra racing dates in 2014 and 2015 after the closure of Betfair Hollywood Park in December.
The California Horse Racing Board finalized dates for the next two years at its meeting this week in Pomona, adding five weeks of daytime thoroughbred racing at Los Alamitos in Orange County subject to legislation being signed by Gov. Jerry Brown.
Los Alamitos hasn’t had a meet for thoroughbreds since the 1991 Orange County Fair.
The 2014 racing calendar will run Dec. 26, 2013-July 2 at Santa Anita; Los Alamitos from July 3-13; Del Mar from July 16-Sept. 3; Fairplex in Pomona from Sept. 4-23; Santa Anita from Sept. 25-Nov. 2; Del Mar from Nov. 5-Dec. 3; and return to Los Alamitos from Dec. 4-21.
