LONDON (AP) — Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has postponed his all-British fight with Tyson Fury on Sept. 28 because of a deep cut during sparring.

Hayemaker Boxing says in a statement that Haye went to a London hospital on Friday to treat the cut above his left eyebrow. He needed six stiches, which will remain in place for five to six days.

Haye was to fight Fury in Manchester, and said: “To everyone who has bought tickets, booked hotels, and followed this fight since it was announced, there is absolutely nothing I can do except apologize.”

Since losing his WBA title to Wladimir Klitschko in July 2011, Haye (26-2) has fought only once. Haye withdrew from his June fight with Manuel Charr of Germany after hurting his left hand in training.
