GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Sawyer Kollmorgen led Northern Iowa to a runaway 26-7 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday, throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown.
Kollmorgen connected with Chad Owens for a 7-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to give Northern Iowa (3-0) a lead it would hold over Northern Colorado (1-3) for the rest of the game.
Darius Graham cut Northern Colorado’s lead to 13-7 in the third quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run. But Northern Iowa responded on the following possession with an 86-yard scoring drive, culminating in an 18-yard touchdown run by David Johnson. Johnson finished with 121 yards rushing, while Tyler Sievertson kicked four field goals.
Northern Colorado’s offense struggled. Tim Tancik, who threw for 209 yards, was picked off twice by the Panthers. Tromaine Dennis rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries.
