GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Tennessee has benched quarterback Justin Worley after three games, giving Nathan Peterman his first career start.

The Volunteers (2-1) announced the move about two hours before Saturday’s kickoff at No. 19 Florida.

Peterman, a 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman from nearby Jacksonville, should give the Volunteers more versatility against the Gators (1-1). He has completed 6 of 12 passes for 40 yards this season, but he also has scrambling ability.

Worley, a junior from Rock Hill, S.C., completed 35 of 57 passes for 372 yards, with five touchdowns and an interception in three starts this season. He completed 13 of 25 passes for 126 yards, including a 51-yarder, in last week’s 59-14 loss at No. 2 Oregon. Worley also started three games last season.
