Awesome Vow cruises in Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Awesome Vow took the lead early and then cruised to victory in the $38,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Royal Suspicion by 6 14 lengths.

Ridden by Pedro Cotto Jr. and trained by Jorge Navarro, the six-year-old mare ran the mile over a fast track in 1:37 4/5 and paid $3.60, $3 and $2.10. The win was the eighth in 39 career starts for Awesome Vow.

Royal Suspicion returned $4.20 and $2.80, while Lady Kierkegaard was 1 14 lengths back in third and paid $2.10.

Navarro had four winners on the day, tying a Monmouth Park record. Besides Awesome Vow, he also won the fifth race with Don’tcallmeshirley, the eighth race with first-time starter All About Karma and the ninth race with Conte.
