LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles is one of three finalists to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic marathon trials, along with Cincinnati and Houston.

USA Track and Field officials will be visiting Los Angeles next week as part of the site selection process. They’ll check out potential course options and discuss logistics for the event, which will take place in March 2016.

The top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s races will represent the U.S. at the Rio Olympics later that year.

Leading the effort to land the trials are officials with the Los Angeles Marathon, which would host the Olympic trials a day before the city’s annual marathon.

USA Track and Field will announce the winning host city in December.
