RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Trying to keep J.J. Watt from wreaking havoc in the backfield is a tall task for even the best offensive lines.
The Seattle Seahawks may have to attempt it this week without their two starting offensive tackles.
Pro Bowl left tackle Russell Okung is out with an injured toe. Right tackle Breno Giacomini has an ailing knee that forced him to the sidelines early in Seattle’s 45-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
With veteran Paul McQuistan moving out from guard to tackle to replace Okung, the Seahawks may have to turn to a pair of rookies in Michael Bowie and Alvin Bailey to pick up the slack against the league’s second-ranked defense.
Bowie and Bailey impressed offensive line coach Tom Cable during training camp and have continued to make progress.
