INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Danny Granger will be a full participant when the Pacers open training camp.
Coach Frank Vogel said Friday that Granger will be given extra rest in October, noting it’s part of the doctors’ plan to help Granger build up his endurance as he recovers a left knee injury.
The one-time All-Star missed all but five games last season, and finally had surgery in April. Doctors said then it would take Granger four to six months to recover completely.
During Indiana’s media day, Vogel and Granger’s teammates raved about how good the 6-foot-8 forward has looked in workouts. Granger dialed back the expectations, acknowledging he still has to prove he can withstand the rigors of two-a-day practices and in game conditions.
