JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without safety Dwight Lowery against Indianapolis on Sunday, leaving them with two rookies in the back end.
The Jaguars (0-3) will go with Johnathan Cyprien, a second-round draft pick, and sixth-rounder Josh Evans against the Colts (2-1). Evans replaced Lowery (concussion) on the second play at Seattle, and the duo was torched.
Jacksonville’s receiving corps is equally problematic.
Although tight end Marcedes Lewis (calf) will make his season debut, the Jaguars will be without receivers Stephen Burton (concussion) and Mike Brown (back). With Justin Blackmon suspended one more game for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, the Jaguars are down to two healthy wideouts: Cecil Shorts III and rookie Ace Sanders.
The team likely will sign receivers Jeremy Ebert and Tobais Palmer off the practice squad.
