As one who is critical of government that fails (name your administration), it is refreshing to see a part of government that works, and works well.
Four years ago, I traveled from Vancouver to my home in Camas. I stopped at every red light for 13 total delays on Mill Plain Boulevard. I called the Vancouver traffic engineering department and told them of my experience. I spoke with a gent who told me “we are aware of the light timing and are endeavoring to rectify.”
Present day, I have been meaning to call this gent back and say “Well done.” I have traveled the identical route with no delay and lights timed perfectly. I have also traveled from state Highway 14 north onto 192nd Avenue with perfectly timed signals. The traffic engineering department merits recognition for doing an exemplary job with signal timing. If I had any complaint, it would be to make a dual turn from eastbound Mill Plain Boulevard to northbound 192nd Avenue (light is super short and only one turn lane; make both lanes turn and a longer light).
Kudos to the traffic engineering office. They have done what I didn’t think possible … me complimenting government for working better than expected and deserving praise.
