Clark College soccer teams beat Tacoma

The Clark College men’s soccer team won its sixth consecutive match, defeating Tacoma 6-1 Saturday at Vancouver.

The Penguins (9-1-1, 5-0-0) got two goals each from Juan Ayala-Jimenez and Nino Ayala-Jimenez. Christian Desir scored the sixth goal for the Penguins, who also benefitted from an own goal.

Women’s soccer — Casside Hall, Cristal Ruvalcaba on a penalty kick, and Zilah Ramic accounted for the Penguins goals as they won for the third time in four matches, defeating Tacoma 3-1.

Clark improved to 3-5-2, 3-2-1 with the win.

Both Clark soccer teams will be on the road next week, playing at Southwestern Oregon in Coos Bay on Wednesday and at Peninsula on Saturday.

Volleyball — Clark split its results during the week.

On Wednesday, the Penguins won at Tacoma in five games. Scores were 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Jazmyn Boyd-Clark had 13 kills and nine digs, Brenda Gonzales had 27 assists, and Shawntel Kalliainen had 14 digs for Clark.

The Penguins lost 3-0 at Centralia on Friday. Scores were not available.

Clark hosts Lower Columbia at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Pierce at 7 p.m. Friday.
