A Sept. 27 story reported “C-Tran approves light-rail plan.” Regarding what the C-Tran Board of Directors did at their Sept. 26 meeting, they are sharing legal authority with a group of unelected bureaucrats in Oregon, giving them access to C-Tran’s “eminent domain” authority to condemn land, taking property away from private citizens in our state.
Forget the reality that “the plan includes a gap of at least $400,000 each year, currently listed as an undetermined ‘third party’ funding source.” Forget the reality that Southwest Washington residents have voted “no” multiple times on paying for or bringing light rail into Clark County. Forget the reality that C-Tran’s own policy states they will give residents a “vote” on any deal.
Do you think that light rail, if built, will just stop at Clark College? Is your property in their “future” plans? They could take property along Mill Plain Boulevard, Andresen Road, Fourth Plain Boulevard, 164th Avenue and so many more neighborhoods, all without your consent. And the “they” could be unelected Oregon bureaucrats.
It’s time to vote these C-Tran board members out of public office.
