Salmon Creek – Alki Middle School students heard from nearly 30 local professionals — including a psychologist, a dentist and an airline captain — Wednesday morning at the school’s Career Day event. Each of the guests gave four 20-minute presentations about their careers, followed by a few minutes for questions. The format allowed Alki students to choose four career talks, based on each student’s interests. School officials said the event helps middle-school students learn about a variety of professions, better preparing them to select a potential career path by their first year of high school.
