Evergreen High School — Evergreen High School’s varsity cheer team took second place in its division at a national competition in California last month. Led by coach Nancy Burris, the team’s athletic performance impressed judges enough to rise to just about the top of the rankings during the United Spirit Association’s (USA) National Spirit Competition in late March in Anaheim, Calif. Team mom Denise Wilson said the team was able to raise nearly $10,000 to be able to travel to the competition.
