WSU Vancouver faculty, student show research

The public is invited to explore a variety of faculty and student research, scholarship and artistic expression on April 17 at the 11th Annual Washington State University Vancouver Research Showcase at the campus, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave.

Here’s the schedule:

o 8 to 11 a.m.: More than 90 displays at the Firstenburg Student Commons. Students and faculty will discuss topics including the effects of hormones on hearing.

o Noon: Awards ceremony after projects have been evaluated by judges.

o 1 p.m.: Charles Brandt, director of the Coastal Sciences Division of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Energy Environment Directorate will give a keynote address titled “Opportunities and Challenges for Renewable Ocean Energy in the Pacific Northwest.” This event will take place in Room 129 of the Dengerink Administration Building.

o 2 p.m.: Reception in Room 130.

o 3 p.m.: Students and graduate students will participate in a History Research Showcase in Room 129. They will discuss topics such as ethnic relations in China during the Communist Revolution.

The free event is sponsored by the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. Parking is available at meters and in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
