Vancouver — All ages are welcome to attend the Connections Expo, aimed at senior citizens and empty-nesters who are looking forward to the next phase of life.

Sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program at the Human Services Council and by senior newsletter The Messenger, the Connections Expo will feature 130-plus exhibitors offering services, ideas and resources for active, healthy, independent lifestyles for people 50 and older.

There will be information about travel, recreation, health, nutrition, housing, finances, health resources, volunteering and more. People can have free health screenings for blood pressure, glucose, spinal health, macular degeneration and glaucoma, among many other things. Also on hand will be the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Napoleon the alpaca.

A special addition this year is a 12:30 p.m. fashion show with the latest classy looks for women and the latest sportswear. An introduction of pet products and services will be at 2:30 p.m.

The free (but donation-requested) event is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Vancouver Convention Center, 301 W. Sixth St. For more information, visit http://www.50plusconnectionsexpo.com or call 360-735-3683.
