Mixing politics with medical marijuana has a harmful result to the public. Having state and federal laws inconsistent with one another will cause mass confusion.Studies show the benefits of medical marijuana. In a CNN broadcast, Drs. Sanjay Gupta and Julie Holland explored the pros of the drug. They noted that users can’t overdose on pain medication with medical marijuana. Also PTSD patients have a positive effect from using medical marijuana.
State government allows the use of medical marijuana but users can still be in violation federal law. In an online article, Mansur Gidfar reports about Montana resident Chris Williams getting arrested by federal officers although state government supported his medical marijuana business. Under federal law medical marijuana is still illegal. So how can anyone be safe when using or producing medical marijuana?
Only 20 of 50 states, and the District of Columbia, allow the use of marijuana for medical use. This limits the residents of one area from traveling to another. Having to relocate isn’t reasonable for someone with PTSD who served our country. Having one law for the entire country will help regulate and sustain a safe usage of medical marijuana for the medical benefits.
