Letter: It’s time to stop takeovers

Negotiations have failed with the National Park Service. Although it is not unexpected, it is still disappointing. When I told a Native American friend of mine about the government canceling an agreement and taking control of the Pearson Air Museum, he said, “Why are you surprised? They have been doing it for over 200 years.” It is time to stop this kind of takeover by the government. The Department of Interior needs to get out of the 18th century. It needs to get respect for the people and their property. The name Pearson Air Museum belongs to a nonprofit. The Park Service needs to quit using it. They also do not have an aircraft museum. The Pearson Air Museum has been taken out of the AAA travel guide.

If House Resolution 716 passes the U.S. House, and a similar bill passes in the Senate, it would take financial support to bring back the museum.
