PASCO — A Pasco man who pretended to be an immigration lawyer and took money from trusting clients pleaded guilty in Franklin County Superior Court to extortion and unlawful practice of law.

The Tri-City Herald reports 54-year-old Jose Antonio Martinez was sentenced to a year in jail and released Wednesday because of credit for time served.

Franklin County Prosecutor Shawn Sant says Martinez never did any actual work for immigrants and some who came to him for help ended up being deported.
