Letter: Maximize work by joining resources

My husband and I walk the waterfront trail along the Columbia River nearly every Saturday and Sunday. It’s very sad that the beautiful park area is so neglected. The minimal amount of maintenance is the only thing being done. Now the trash receptacles aren’t being emptied in a timely manner. I took six pictures of trash receptacles that were overflowing last weekend.

Since this is part of the Fort Vancouver National Site, I assume the National Park Service is responsible for maintaining this area. They sure aren’t doing a very good job of keeping things tidy and presentable.

Unfortunately, because of the proximity to downtown Vancouver, I’m sure most people think the city isn’t doing their part in maintaining this area. It’s too bad the city doesn’t try to coordinate with the National Park Service and make sure this area is maintained. This reflects poorly on Vancouver. We live in such a beautiful area and this is unacceptable. This is very sad.
