Hazel Dell — Members of the local 4-H rabbit club Country Critters — Aquoia Coss, Hunter Coss, Colleen Saylors and Liz Jesser — toured the Purina feed mill in Oregon on Aug. 4. The kids learned how the grain is brought into the mill and what is like after combined with other grains to make different types of feed for a variety of animals. They also saw the process of loading bags of grain onto a skid to put into the truck to ship to different feed stores and farms. The 4-H group was happy to learn Purina checks for metal in the feed throughout the process and maintains the required nutrients in the animals’ feed.
