ARLINGTON — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was hurt when his patrol car struck and killed a horse.

The deputy was responding to a domestic violence call in Arlington at about 12 a.m. Monday when his cruiser hit the horse, which had escaped captivity and was on the roadway. The patrol car was totaled.

The deputy, who joined the sheriff’s office in 2007, is on leave as he recovers from minor injuries.
