Clark men win home opener over Shoreline, 74-61

The Clark College men’s basketball team won its home opener Tuesday, beating Shoreline 74-61.

Columbia River grad Rian Bassett scored 14 points and Bryan Berg had 13 to lead four Penguins in double-figures.

The Penguins used a 14-0 run to take a 30-9 lead midway through the first half.

Clark led 48-30 at halftime, but Shoreline scored 20 of the next 30 points to pull within 58-50 with 10:40 to play.

But Clark regained control. Bassett’s 3-pointer punctuated a 9-2 run that put the Penguins up 67-52 with 7:09 to play.

Clark (2-1) will host Clackamas at 7 p.m. Friday. The women’s team plays its home opener against Clackamas at 5 p.m. Friday.
