As we approach mid-December, the weather will be more typical of the season. A large cold low in the Gulf of Alaska will spin one storm after another, with that atmospheric “river” heading our way. Initially, rainfall amounts will be heaviest over Vancouver Island and the Olympics, with many inches of rain in those areas.
Mild tropical air in the mix will keep our snow levels high and produce wind at times this week. Storm warnings were in effect along the ocean beaches for winds of more than 60 mph. Seas will run 20 feet or higher. Be cautious if you intend to do some storm watching! It will be dangerous along the beaches, for sure. Stay back from the water’s edge.
We had a fairly decent weekend. It was nice to get out and about. With a little luck, we may end up with similar conditions this weekend. Of course, it will be cooler with lots of fog. Good practice weather for Rudolph.
The highs most of the weekend will be in the 55-60 degree range here. Coastal areas were in the low 60s Monday.
